With fall here; it is time to start preparing your home for the coming winter! Following the tips below can help you protect your home from possible deterioration or damage.
Ideally, your siding should be exposed to the elements. Remember to keep – vines, plants and shrubs away from the siding; which can hold moisture and allow insects and animals to infiltrate.
Make sure areas around windows and doors are property caulked and sealed: As well as checking to make sure there is no water coming in. Moisture from water can linger and eventually cause fungal growth or rotting.
Have gutters and downspouts cleaned yearly or several times in one year. Leaves, pine needles and debris can prevent proper drainage and cause back-ups (a major source of water issues or damaged siding).
