Site Built Home

This home is built piece by piece on the foundation of the home using raw lumber that is cut and nailed on site. This could also be a “kit built” home where each piece of lumber is pre-cut and then assembled on site.

Modular Home

This is a home that is built in a factory in two or more pieces. It is trucked to the site and lifted by crane; to be placed on an existing foundation.

DMV Registered/Titled/Manufactured or Mobile Home

This type of home is titled or registered at the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) as a trailer/vehicle. It had (or still has) an axle with wheels and possibly a trailer tongue used to tow the trailer/vehicle.If the homes title has NOT been surrendered to the state; then this is the classification that this vehicle should be in. (You can contact either your local Secretary of Stat Office or the Michigan Department of Labor & Economic Growth office to verify if the title has been surrendered to the state)

DMV Unregistered/Untitled/Manufactured or Mobile Home

This home WAS titled or registered at the DMV as a trailer/vehicle. It had (or still has) an axle with wheels and possibly a trailer tongue used to tow the trailer/vehicle. If the title to this item was surrendered to the state; then this trailer/vehicle is considered “real property” and this is the classification it should be in. (Again, you can contact either your local Secretary of State Office or the MI Dept of Labor & Economic Growth office to verify if the title has been surrendered to the state)
