The Right Place continues to grow Grand Rapids: NxGen MDx, a business specializing in genetic carrier screening, has announced it will be adding 37 new jobs to its Broadway Avenue laboratory. These new positions will include 22 positions paying an average salary of $31.00 per hour plus benefits. The remaining job openings will be in the customer service sector with an average pay of $15.50 per hour plus benefits. NxGen MDx was formed in 2014, at Grand Valley State’s Cook-DeVos Center. It currently has 35 workers. The proactive GR City Commission has granted more than 32 MILLION in loans and reimbursements for 5 new projects within the City of Grand Rapids.
These incentives are powerful in helping clean up contaminated properties, demolish compromised older structures and improve property values.
1: $550,000 loan to Diamond Place; this project at Michigan and Diamond, will include 165 low-income and market rate apartments as well as a new grocery store.
2: $979,953 for refurbishing the landmark Kregel Building, located at 733 Wealthy Street, SE, into main floor retail spaces and 6 floors above into 75 apartments.
3: $15.9 million for a to be built 15-story building at 150 Ottawa, NW: Construction will include a 420-space parking garage, office & retail spaces and 123 apartments, boasting market rate rental fees.
4: $675,069 to be spent at #s 637, 645 and 659 Michigan St., NE. The ground floor restaurant and 44 apartments are the goal of Third Coast Development.
5: $13.9 million for the West Side Super Block! 18 parcels, defined by the boundaries of Bridge Street, First Street, Stocking Avenue and Seward, NW will include a Meijer Store, with 133 affordable apartments located above; 2 parking ramps; and, last of all, a 4-story office building to include 64 housing units with ground floor retail space.
