There are many reasons to enjoy Thanksgiving Day and our traditional main course of turkey, is tops on the list!
Did you know ?
Turkey is an excellent course of protein. A typical 4-ounce serving provides 65 percent of the average recommended daily allotment of protein, one serving is 161 calories and is low in saturated fat. The vitamin benefits are B3; known as niacin, which can improve cholesterol levels and lower the risk for cardiovascular disease. B6; this vitamin is involved in the process of making certain neurotransmitters. B12 helps decrease levels of homocysteine, which can contribute to cognitive decline.
Turkey also contains selenium, which contributes to a healthy thyroid and it also helps boost the immune system, playing a role in the body’s antioxidant defense. Last of all, just what all of us can use: RELAXATION! Turkey contains an amino acid which plays a role in triggering production of serotonin.
Stay well, and my sincere Thanksgiving Day blessings to you.
