On November 14, 2016, our full moon will appear, for just a few hours, from “the perfect spot in orbit” where the moon is the closest to Earth. This signifies and designates November’s full moon to be called a Super Moon, and this positioning hasn’t occurred since 1948, or for almost 69 years!
Super moons can appear 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than our regular full moon, depending on the weather conditions. On November 14, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the sun will set at 5:20PM and the moon will rise at 5:57PM: The moon will appear it largest when it is close to the horizon. Looking forward, we will have this same occurrence during our December, 2016, full moon!
