GRAR’s Community Involvement Task Force Members have taken it upon themselves to help the Grand Rapids Challenge Scholars (GRPS) transform a classroom at Westwood Middle School into a professional room that will be used as a college/career center, coffee cafe, and student/parent meeting space. The color theme is red, black, and grey. Dues dollars were not spent on this project, rather the Task Force Members themselves have donated a large red area rug, 2 lamps, 2 giant coffee/hot cocoa urns, cups, $115 in Target gift cards, and healthy snacks.
They are still in need of cold beverage dispensers for water/lemonade, more rugs (red, black or grey), and Costco or Target gift cards (to be used for furnishings, storage containers, beverages, and healthy snacks).
This effort has been spearheaded by Vice-Chairperson Melissa Lamb Mitchell and she sends special words of appreciation to Kay Courtney, Ron Babitz, Daniel Grzywacz, Bryant Mitchell, Linda S. Pell, Julie Rietberg, and Pamela VanLuven Miley for their donations.
If you have new or gently used items that match the needs referenced above, the Task Force members would greatly appreciate your assistance (please contact Melissa Lamb Mitchell @ GRAR).
